      By choosing a specialist in our Medical Gap network, we're able to reduce, or in many cases eliminate, any out of pocket fees for your specialist that you may otherwise be faced with paying. Ask your specialist if they'll treat you under this scheme.

      We have agreements with private hospitals and day facilities to ensure that as a GU Health member, you're fully covered for accommodation and theatre fees, so you'll only have to pay your excess, if you have one.

      GU Health First Choice Network

      To help keep your costs to a minimum, we've locked in lower rates with our network of dentists, optometrists and physiotherapists who offer their services at a reduced cost for GU Health members. For our non-resident members, our First Choice network includes GP, radiology and pathology practices.

      Before you book an appointment

      Speak to your provider before booking an appointment, as their participation in our networks is subject to change and may apply on a case-by-case basis. We also recommend asking for confirmation of the costs involved and any out of pocket fees. And finally, check your policy by logging in or talking to us to make sure you’re covered.

      We have special agreements with healthcare professionals and practices across Australia. By choosing to see a provider in our network, you can get better value by being charged less, just for being a GU Health member.

      Only providers in our network will appear in the Find a Provider search tool. That doesn’t mean you can’t see the provider of your choice, but they may charge you more than providers we have special agreements with. Search for providers outside our networks on our partner site, Whitecoat.

      No, you can choose to see any provider outside of our networks, as long as they’re recognised by us. You might be charged more by a provider if we don’t have a special agreement with them Search the Whitecoat directory for healthcare professionals outside our networks.

      Contact your provider to discuss costs and options before you arrange to see them or book any treatment. Contact us first and we can guide you through this process by giving you some helpful questions to ask your provider.

      Check what you’re covered for by logging in to your member account, either online or via the app. Please make sure you read Your Membership Guidelines with your Cover Guide for your plan information. Or you can contact us and one of our consultants will be happy to help.

      We don’t have special agreements with all healthcare professionals, that’s why some won’t appear in our network. You can still see any provider you choose, as long as they have qualifications we recognise and you’re covered for that service. In most cases your provider just needs to have a Medicare registration, but Natural Therapies providers must be registered with a specific association, so contact us to check before you book an appointment.

      As long as you're covered for a service, you can claim for a range of telehealth consultations via phone or video conferencing. Check with your provider to see if they’re able to offer you a telehealth appointment, or use our provider search to find a physio or GP in our network who can offer telehealth consultations - just filter your results by providers who offer telehealth.
